LAME got to contribute to the to the development of the Soort Safari app, created by the Dutch educational youth program Het Klokhuis. This app encourages young users to discover and learn about animals and plants in their neighborhood. By taking pictures, users can collect and explore information about a rotating selection of flora and fauna, with new additions every week.

Creating an identity and gamification of education for children. Het Klokhuis needed an identity for their new Soort Safari app that strikes the right balance between education and gaming for their audience of elementary schoolers. It was important to capture a tone that is not too childish and not too serious simultaneously. 


Research involved looking at the interactive games we know work well with this age group to motivate them to ‘touch grass’ and get them outside to explore the outside world alongside Klokhuis. Collaboratively with the Het Klokhuis team we developed an app where for a year a new animal/insect could be caught every single day. Each of these creatures was illustrated and used as visual for the app and sorted by season. Every season the colors of the app changed to accommodate the aesthetics and feeling of said season. Through bridging the online and offline we were able to achieve sensory storytelling for the target group.
